FAQ's on Glassfront Merchandisers

Question:
Answer :
When I see a machine specification written as a 123-640, what does this mean?
Breaking the number down into two parts, the first three digits are the machine model. Out of this grouping, the last digit (123) indicates the size of the merchandiser, with a 121 being the smallest, and a 123 being the largest. The three digits following the dash represents the number of shelves and the number of selections. A "640" would be six shelves, containing forty selections. This total does not include the gum & mint shelf.
Question:

Answer :
I have a piece of glass in stock for an APi 7000 series glassfront. Can I use this in newer machines?
The hard tempered glass (P/N 750141) for an AP7000 can be used in all of our larger cabinet machines, including models 103, 113, 123, 129, LCM3, and LCM4. The smaller machines, models 121, 122, 128, LCM1, LCM2, and LCM5 also use a common piece of hard tempered glass (P/N 750141-1).
Question:
Answer :
Can I convert a single spiral snack selection into a dual spiral snack selection?
Yes. Any snack shelf that contains snap-in motors, introduced in 1991, can have a single snack spiral converted to a dual spiral selection. There are a number of different kits available. Each kit consists of the dual spiral motor, a left-hand spiral driver, and a new shelf front.
Specific spirals must be ordered separately. Refer to your Service Manual, shipped with each machine, for a list of appropriate kit numbers.
Question:

Answer :
When I order replacement motors for my 7000, the motors I receive are snap-in motors. Are these the correct motors?
Yes. All of our shelf replacement motors have the snap-in tabs. If you are replacing motors on a machine that has motors attached to the shelf with screws, first use a pair of side cutter pliers to carefully remove the tabs, and then attach the replacement motor to the shelf with the screws.
Question:

Answer :
I have three almost identical snack shelf motors in stock. The only difference is the color of the motor case. Which motor is used in which machine?
There has been a specific color code established to identify the motors. Gray and white motors are used in the LCM Series and the C-series machines. All white motors are used in 6000, 7000 and 110 Series. Blue and white motors are used in the 120 Series Snackshop® . There is a special black and blue motor that is used only in the À LA CARTE®. This color code applies to the standard motor, as well as the dual spiral and gum & mint motor.

Tips & Troubleshooting on the 320 .

Troubleshooting a machine is a task that relies on a piece of equipment you always have with you - YOUR EYES! Visual observation of what is happening, or not happening, is always the first place to begin the process of troubleshooting.

To begin solving a problem with an
À LA CARTE® refrigerated/frozen machine, use the scrolling display and the various indicators built into the machine to start you down the right path. First, is the scrolling display working? What does it say? Press and hold the zero key on the keypad. The display should show the temperature of the À LA CARTE®. If it does, open the door and see if any errors are recorded. To view recorded errors, press the F2 button. After viewing errors, press ESC and then clear the errors by pressing the F3 button. Inside the 310 Tower (or 120 Series Snackshop®), the Logic Control Board (LCB) has an LED that should be flashing, This indicates that the 8Vac power supply is correct. Try depositing a coin and see if the coin mech accepts it. Then press the coin return and see if it pays the coin back. If it does, this indicates that your 24Vac supply is functioning correctly.

The next items to check are the LED's on the Food Driver Board, located in the bottom of the
À LA CARTE®. Is the status light blinking? If it is, this indicates that the power and communication from the LCB is functioning correctly. If the status light is steady or dark, this indicates a problem with a damaged communication cable between the two boards.

If the fluorescent lights in the
À LA CARTE® are not lit, open the inner door on the food cabinet and close it again. If the lights do not come back on, check the power cord for the food cabinet and make sure you have 110Vac coming into the food cabinet.

Additional detailed assistance for the
À LA CARTE® troubleshooting is available by visiting our web site at www.automaticproducts.com and accessing the "Tech Tools" section. From the "Tech Tools" access the Technical Manuals section. There you will find an MSWord document named 320 Refrigeration Troubleshooting that can be loaded to your PC. This document guides you through a series of questions to assist in identifying and solving various problems.
